Victory Park
Victory Park in Russia Tours
Victory Park (Park Pobedy) is a vast memorial and public park in western Moscow dedicated to the Soviet victory in the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). Located on Poklonnaya Hill, the park was inaugurated on 9 May 1995, marking the 50th anniversary of the victory.
The centrepiece of the park is the Victory Monument, a towering obelisk standing approximately 141.8 metres high, symbolizing the 1,418 days of the war. The memorial complex also includes the Museum of the Great Patriotic War, the Church of St. George the Victorious, a memorial mosque and a memorial synagogue, reflecting the diverse communities that contributed to the war effort.
With its grand avenues, fountains, monuments and landscaped grounds, Victory Park is both a significant historical memorial and a popular recreational space, offering visitors an opportunity to learn about Russia’s wartime history while exploring one of Moscow’s major landmarks.
