GUM Shopping Mall
GUM Shopping Mall in Russia Tours
GUM (Glavny Universalny Magazin) is one of Moscow’s most famous historic shopping destinations, located along the eastern side of Red Square. The magnificent building is renowned for its grand 19th-century architecture, elegant glass roof and beautifully designed interior galleries.
Originally opened as the Upper Trading Rows in 1893, GUM became an important commercial centre in Moscow. Its architecture, designed by Alexander Pomerantsev, combines elements of Russian Revival and traditional Russian architectural styles, creating one of the most distinctive buildings overlooking Red Square.
Today, GUM combines shopping, dining and historic architecture, with a wide selection of international and Russian brands, cafés and restaurants. Its spectacular central passages and illuminated interiors make it a popular attraction even for visitors who simply want to experience Moscow’s architectural heritage.
