Pigeon Valley
Pigeon Valley in Turkey Tours
Pigeon Valley (Güvercinlik Vadisi) is one of Cappadocia’s most scenic valleys, located between Göreme and Uçhisar. The valley takes its name from the numerous pigeon houses (dovecotes) carved into the soft volcanic rock. For centuries, local communities kept pigeons here and used their manure as a natural fertilizer for vineyards and fields.
The valley is known for its dramatic fairy chimneys, rocky cliffs, caves and lush vegetation, creating a striking contrast with Cappadocia’s surrounding volcanic landscape. Walking trails allow visitors to explore the valley while enjoying panoramic views of the distinctive rock formations and Uçhisar Castle.
Pigeon Valley is an excellent destination for hiking, photography and experiencing Cappadocia’s unique relationship between nature and traditional rural life.
