Tour overview

Your Himalayan expedition begins in Gangtok, where vibrant streets, beautiful monasteries, and panoramic viewpoints introduce you to the unique character of Sikkim. Visit the revered Rumtek Monastery, spend leisure time along the bustling MG Marg, and enjoy magnificent views of the surrounding mountain ranges. Continue towards the remote village of Lachen through spectacular mountain highways lined with waterfalls, deep valleys, and dense forests. From Lachen, set out for the breathtaking Gurudongmar Lake, one of the world's highest lakes, admired for its crystal-clear waters and dramatic high-altitude setting.

The adventure proceeds to Lachung, a picturesque Himalayan village surrounded by snow-capped peaks and pristine landscapes. Explore the enchanting Yumthang Valley, often celebrated as the Valley of Flowers, where vibrant seasonal blossoms, flowing rivers, and vast alpine meadows create a spectacular natural panorama. During suitable seasons, an excursion to the snow-covered surroundings of Zero Point offers an unforgettable opportunity to witness the raw beauty of the high Himalayas. Returning to Gangtok, enjoy another chance to explore the city's lively atmosphere before travelling onward to Darjeeling. Here, witness the unforgettable sunrise from Tiger Hill, admire the engineering marvel of Batasia Loop, visit sprawling tea estates, experience the famous Darjeeling Himalayan Railway, and explore lively local markets filled with regional handicrafts and delicacies.

Got questions?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

01Are there altitude sickness concerns?
Answer. Yes, at higher altitudes like Gurudongmar Lake (17,800 ft) and Nathula Pass (14,000 ft), travelers may feel breathless or dizzy. Carry medicines and avoid strenuous activity.
02Is Nathula Pass open throughout the year?
Answer. No, Nathula remains closed on Mondays and Tuesdays and may shut during heavy snowfall or landslides. Permits are subject to availability.
03How is the connectivity in Sikkim (Internet & Mobile)?
  • Answer. Mobile networks like Jio, Airtel, BSNL work well in Gangtok and major towns.
  • In remote areas (North Sikkim), connectivity is poor or sometimes unavailable. Wi-Fi is available in most hotels in Gangtok.
04What is the best time to visit Sikkim?
Answer. The best time is March to June (spring/summer) and September to December (autumn/winter). The weather is pleasant and ideal for sightseeing. Avoid the monsoon months (July–August) due to heavy rainfall and landslides.

06Do I need a permit to visit Sikkim?
  • Answer. For Nathula Pass, Tsomgo Lake, Baba Mandir, North Sikkim (Lachen, Lachung, Gurudongmar, Yumthang) – a special permit is required. Tour operators usually arrange this with valid ID and passport-size photos.

Answer. Sikkim offers a range of options – from budget hotels, homestays, mid-range hotels to luxury resorts in Gangtok, Pelling, and Namchi. North Sikkim has basic hotels & homestays due to remote location.
