Got questions?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

01Do Indian citizens need a visa to visit Switzerland?
Yes. Indian passport holders generally need a Schengen visa for a short tourist visit to Switzerland, normally for stays of up to 90 days in a 180-day period.
02What is the best time to visit Switzerland?
April–June and September–October are excellent for sightseeing. December–March is popular for snow and winter activities.
03How many days are enough for Switzerland?
5–7 days is good for the major highlights. 8–10 days allows a more relaxed itinerary including Zermatt, Interlaken, Lucerne and scenic train journeys.
04What are the must-visit places?
Zurich, Lucerne, Interlaken, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Jungfraujoch, Zermatt/Matterhorn, Mount Titlis, Rhine Falls and Montreux are among the most popular choices.
05Is Indian and vegetarian food available?
Yes. Indian restaurants and vegetarian options are available in major tourist destinations. For Jain or specific dietary requirements, it is best to check restaurants in advance.
06What currency is used in Switzerland?
The official currency is the Swiss franc (CHF). Euros may be accepted at some tourist businesses, but CHF is the local currency.
07What are the best experiences for first-time visitors?
Prioritize Jungfraujoch, Mount Titlis, Matterhorn, Lauterbrunnen, Grindelwald, Lucerne and a Swiss scenic train journey.
08What should I pack?
Carry comfortable walking shoes, layers, a waterproof jacket and warm clothing if you are visiting mountain areas. For winter, pack proper thermal clothing.
09Can I visit Switzerland with a Schengen visa issued by another country?
Generally, Switzerland is part of the Schengen Area, so a valid Schengen visa can allow travel to Switzerland, subject to the visa's conditions and the rules governing where the application should be lodged.
10Can I use Indian debit/credit cards?
International cards are widely accepted. Carrying a small amount of Swiss francs as backup is advisable.
