Basilica di San Marco
Basilica di San Marco in Italy Tours
Basilica di San Marco (St. Mark’s Basilica) is one of the most iconic landmarks of Venice and a magnificent symbol of the city’s religious and civic heritage. For nearly a thousand years, it served as the Doge’s chapel and has played an important role in the history and public life of Venice.
Visitors can admire the basilica’s spectacular marble façades, domes, intricate mosaics, sculptural decorations, and the famous Pala d’Oro. The interior is particularly renowned for its extensive golden mosaics, while the basilica’s historic treasures reflect Venice’s long-standing connections with Byzantine and Eastern artistic traditions.
