  5. Photography and filming are strictly prohibited in the Sistine Chapel.
  6. Food and drinks are not permitted in exhibition areas except in designated refreshment areas.
  7. Large bags, suitcases and other bulky items must be deposited in the cloakroom where required.
  8. Touching artworks, crossing barriers or entering restricted areas is prohibited.
  9. Visitors must not use selfie sticks or other equipment that could endanger artworks or other visitors.
  10. Access to certain areas may be restricted or changed due to religious ceremonies, maintenance, security or operational requirements.
Terms & Conditions
  1. Valid Ticket: Visitors must have a valid admission ticket for the Vatican Museums. The ticket also includes access to the Sistine Chapel on the day indicated on the ticket. Tickets are generally non-refundable.
  2. Official Tickets: Online tickets should be purchased only through the official Vatican Museums ticket portal. The Museums specifically warn visitors about unofficial websites and ticket scams.
  3. Opening Hours: The Museums are generally open Monday to Saturday, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM, with final entry at 6:00 PM. On the last Sunday of the month, opening hours are generally 9:00 AM–2:00 PM, with final entry at 12:30 PM. Opening dates may vary according to the official calendar.
  4. Dress Code: Visitors must wear appropriate clothing. Sleeveless or low-cut garments, shorts above the knee, miniskirts and hats are not permitted.
  5. Security & Cloakroom: Large luggage, suitcases, backpacks, packages and other unsuitable items must be deposited in the free cloakroom before entering the exhibition areas. Knives, scissors and various metal tools must also be left in the cloakroom.
  6. Photography: Personal photography is permitted for private and domestic use in most museum areas. Flash photography is strictly prohibited. Tripods, stands, drones and professional equipment require authorization.
  7. Sistine Chapel: Photography and filming with any electronic device are strictly prohibited inside the Sistine Chapel. Visitors are also required to observe absolute silence.
  8. Protection of Artworks: Visitors must not touch works of art or museum objects, except where specifically permitted for approved tactile and multisensory visits.
  9. Mobile Phones: Mobile phones should be kept on silent inside the exhibition areas. Their use is prohibited inside the Sistine Chapel.
  10. Food & Drinks: Visitors must not consume food or drinks in the exhibition itinerary except in designated refreshment areas.
  11. Smoking: Smoking, including electronic cigarettes and similar devices, is strictly prohibited throughout the museum itinerary.
  12. Laser Pointers: The use of laser pointers is prohibited inside the museum spaces.
  13. Children: Families and children are welcome. Children must remain under the supervision of their accompanying adults and follow museum safety and conduct rules.
  14. Accessibility: The Vatican Museums provide accessible routes and facilities. Staff can assist visitors with reduced mobility, and dedicated elevators are available along the visitor itinerary.
  15. Tour Changes & Closures: Museum areas, itineraries and opening arrangements may change because of religious events, official ceremonies, maintenance, security requirements or other operational circumstances.
Cancellation Policy
 Vatican Museums tickets are non-refundable and cannot be cancelled for a refund. Tickets are valid for admission to the Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel only on the date for which they are issued. Visitors are advised to purchase tickets exclusively through the official Vatican Museums ticketing portal.
