Activity Policies
- Visitors must have a valid ticket and arrive at their allocated timed-entry slot.
- All visitors and belongings are subject to airport-style security checks.
- Large bags, suitcases and backpacks worn on the back are not permitted inside.
- Photography and filming are strictly prohibited inside Buckingham Palace.
- Eating and drinking are not permitted inside, except for bottled water.
- Smoking and vaping are prohibited throughout the Palace and Gardens.
- Visitors must not touch artworks, furniture or historic objects and must follow staff instructions.
- Drones, bicycles, scooters, skateboards and roller-skates are not permitted.
- Children must remain under the supervision of accompanying adults.
- The Palace is a working royal residence, so opening arrangements may change or closures may occur at short notice.
Terms & Conditions
- Valid Ticket: Visitors must present a valid and fully paid ticket or other authorized admission document at the entrance.
- Timed Entry: Buckingham Palace operates a timed-admission system. Visitors should arrive at the entry time printed on their ticket.
- Security Checks: All visitors and their belongings are subject to airport-style security screening before entry.
- Luggage: Visitors are advised to bring as little as possible. Bags and belongings may be searched and must pass through security screening.
- Dress Code: There is no formal dress code for entering Buckingham Palace, although comfortable and appropriate clothing is recommended.
- Photography: Photography is not permitted inside the State Rooms. Personal photography is permitted in designated outdoor areas such as the Palace Garden, subject to applicable restrictions.
- Filming: Filming inside the Palace is not permitted unless specifically authorized by the Royal Collection Trust.
- Food & Drinks: Eating and drinking are not permitted inside Buckingham Palace, with the exception of bottled water. Refreshments are available in designated areas after the Palace route.
- Visitor Conduct: Visitors must follow instructions from Wardens and staff, avoid running and behave respectfully throughout the visit.
- Protection of Objects: Visitors must not touch artworks, furniture, decorations or other objects displayed inside the Palace.
- Children: Children must remain under the supervision of their accompanying adults throughout the visit.
- Pushchairs & Scooters: Pushchairs cannot be taken into Buckingham Palace and must be checked in. Children's scooters and bicycles are also not permitted inside. Baby carriers and hip seats may be available subject to availability.
- Animals: Animals are not permitted inside Buckingham Palace except guide, hearing and assistance animals.
- Accessibility: Alternative arrangements and step-free access can be arranged for visitors with disabilities. Visitors requiring assistance should contact the Royal Collection Trust before booking.
- Closures & Changes: Buckingham Palace is a working royal residence, so opening arrangements, access and visitor routes may change at short notice because of official duties, security, maintenance or other circumstances.
- Ticket Refunds & Exchanges: Tickets purchased directly from Royal Collection Trust are generally non-refundable, although exchanges may be considered in certain circumstances.
Cancellation Policy
Buckingham Palace tickets purchased directly from Royal Collection Trust are non-refundable. Exchanges may be considered subject to availability and are subject to a £2 exchange fee; exchange requests must be made before the booked visit date and time. In the event of an unforeseen closure affecting a booked visit, Royal Collection Trust may offer an exchange or refund. Tickets purchased through third-party providers are subject to the provider's own cancellation and refund conditions.
