Activity Overview

Alexander Garden (Aleksandrovsky Sad) is one of Moscow’s most historic public gardens, stretching along the northwestern walls of the Moscow Kremlin. Created in the early 19th century as part of the reconstruction of Moscow after the Napoleonic invasion of 1812, the garden was named in honour of Emperor Alexander I.

The garden is divided into Upper, Middle and Lower sections and provides a peaceful green setting beside some of Moscow’s most important landmarks. Visitors can see the Kremlin walls and towers, the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and Eternal Flame, as well as historic fountains, monuments and landscaped pathways.

Its location makes Alexander Garden an ideal starting point for exploring Red Square, the Kremlin and central Moscow, while offering a pleasant place to relax amid the city’s historic surroundings.
