LOCATION:
Situated
on the north east corner of Koh Phan Ngan, this secluded, newly
built resort with a wide frontage of over 300 meters expanding over
half the bay of white sand, crystal clear waters and lots of coconut
trees was developed by the owner and his friends to provide the
best up-market budget accommodation on the island. Natural beauty
and cleanliness have been blended with simple huts and burres that
serve as an idyllic paradise for young and seasoned travelers alike
who by chance have stumbled across this isolated paradise. Not yet,
but very soon to be discovered by the Lonely Planet and the likes,
this remote unspoiled haven is by far the jewel of Koh Phan Ngan.
And
it is not easy to get to Baan Panburi. After a long train ride or
coach ride from Bangkok which often takes up to 8 hours, or a one
hour flight to the nearby Samui island, then an express boat or
ferry ride taking another one to two hours, you arrive the islands
main town Thong Sala. From there, another exciting 45 minutes up
a forested jungle, several ravines, passing through dirt road, falling
boulder, water fall and through a running stream, you finally find
yourself arriving at a beautiful bay of deep blue color, white sandy
beach flanked by the foot of a mountain range. This is Baan Panburi,
a breathtaking sight that is pictured as a signature view of Koh
Pha Ngan. SHOW

ACCOMMODATION: The
resort was opened in January 2001 consisting of 63 huts and bures.
Bures is the word for island cottage made of local wooden materials.
Here it is made of bamboo panel walls, palm leaf roof with wooden
floor, rustic and picturesque in appearance. Our guests often hang
their hammocks by the front porch which has striking seaviews and
spend lazy times reading or taking naps. Island hut is a slightly
smaller and less detail version, both are cleanly kept and have
excellent view.
By
the way, do not expect hot water, but the weather should be very
tropical and warm with fresh breezes. Ceiling fan is provided as
well as mosquito net to cover the bed at night. A very rustic and
wonderful experience to spend time here, guaranteeing one would
not want to leave when the time comes.
