LOCATION:
Cocoa Island is located in the Maldive Islands, each a perfect smudge
of white. Here, in the quiet waters of the Indian Ocean the strongest
winds are gentle breezes, and the highest points, leaning palm fronts.
Each lagoon is a point of stillness, but the encircling reefs bristle
with life.
Our private island resort is found in the less developed South Malé
Atoll, a 30-minute speedboat ride from the international airport.
On the west side lies the Kandooma Channel, considered to be one
of the best dive sites in the Maldives; on the other side is a quiet
reef for snorkelling flanked by a curl of rockless beach which tapers
into a spit of sand. This is as long as the island, disappearing
with the advance of the Maldivian tide.
DINING:
Catch the scent of spices in the pure
salt air
At Cocoa Island, eat like a castaway - fresh lobster, caught
locally, cooked in the Keralan style. Dine feet-in-the-sand
at the main restaurant, Ufaa, beneath an alang-alang pavilion
and huge Maldivian sky.
Menus change daily, blending Indian and Sri Lankan traditions
with an emphasis on seafood, tandoor and organic, locally-sourced
produce. Spicing is used with a lightness of touch. Choice is
always tantalising, promising simplicity in the tropics, and
sophistication for the more demanding gourmand.
There is also a hotel bar, Faru, open from 10am until midnight,
serving fine wines, exotic cocktails and energising juices.

DIVING :
Yet
the still lagoon bristles with life
Diving in the Maldives is rated among the best in the world.
Cocoa Island is located in a quiet atoll where the waters are
undisturbed, ensuring extraordinary colour close to hand.
We have an on-site dive centre staffed by PADI certified instructors
catering to every level of experience. You can rent equipment,
enrol on PADI sanctioned diving courses, visit the house reef
or take part in night dives. Boat dives visit more than 20 different
dive sites in the area. Our safari dives explore even further
afield.
At Cocoa Island, we take care of every individual, their safety
and expectations of the world that lies beneath these gin-clear
seas.
DIVE SEASONS :
During the dry season (Jan - April), currents tend to
be strong with excellent visibility (25-40m). Most dives are
at the channel entrance or drop offs where all the big fish
can be seen, such as large Dogtooth Tuna, Giant Trevally, large
schools of Eagle Rays and, of course, sharks. Note some sites
are not suitable for beginner divers.
Rainy season (May - Dec) brings rain and tropical storms, but
some very good dives for manta rays. Visibility is reduced (10-15m)
due to plankton in the water; however, this is also what most
marine creatures feed upon. During September there is the chance
to see Whalesharks and Hammerheads.
The water temperature remains around 27 to 30 degrees Celsius
all year.

sand between idle toes, to a warm blue sea that turns blush-pink
with the falling light.
Some guests find their own stretch of beach; others prefer to
relax in privacy on their suite's hidden terrace, or lounge
beside the resort’s main swimming pool – cobalt, melting into
an empty horizon.
There is a watersports centre (see Island Activities), a fully

retreat offering a full range of treatments including massages,
Ayurveda and facials.
Our library features an extensive book collection; games are
