LOCATION : Le
Canonnier is situated in the north of Mauritius on the sheltered
historic peninsula La Pointe aux Canonniers, where you can enjoy
year round sunshine and a fine climate with wonderful views across
the coral reef and the north coast islets to the bustling and
colourful village of Grand Bay. Here you will find history combined
with all the comforts of modern living, set in 16 acres of exotic
tropical surroundings, bordered by three beaches, set in lush
gardens and a superb choice of accommodation.
RESTAURANT :
Le
Frangipanier is located amongst the coconut palms in a delightful
open setting this main restaurant caters for clients every need,
with buffet breakfast and theme banquets in the evenings. It is
also close by the entertainment area where cabaret shows are performed
and the resident band plays each night.
Le Navigator is transformed from a colonial mansion, which overlooks
the magnificent ocean, this romantic restaurant features appetising
lunches and superb a la carte dinners. Each evening after dinner
is completed, the restaurant is transformed into a disco with music
and dancing until the early hours of the morning.
ENTAINMENT AND SPORTS : Evening
entertainment is different every night - a local band for dancing,
cabaret and disco, fashion show, Mauritian dancing. In true Beachcomber
style there is an abundance of land and water sports available -
these include - tennis courts (of which 2 are floodlit), table tennis,
a variety of ball games, yoga, archery and American pool. Watersports
include waterskiing, windsurfing, sailing, snorkelling and a glass
bottomed boat to view the coral and marine life. At an additional
cost you can also enjoy scuba diving or deep sea fishing or a catamaran
cruise. There is no gymnasium at Le Canonnier.
There
are daily activities for the children arranged by the Bob Marlin
miniclub to keep the young ones amused and interested all day.
The Bob Marlin miniclub is siuated in a very historic amoury which
housed the gun powder for the canons which gave the peninsula
its name "La Pointe aux Canonniers". In earlier centuries
these cannons guarded the approach to Grand Bay and served as
protection for the north of the island.
UnderSea Walk:
A short distance from the resort you coud spend 20 minutes strolling
through the underwater gardens of the ocean...? Wearing a special
helmet to provide air, you can discover the local marine life,
including small tropical fish, a bright sea anemone, sea cucumber,
or a sea urchin. We will even arrange to take your picture so
that you have a souvenir of your amazing adventure.
Shopping: With both Grand Bay and Port Louis just a short distance
away this excursion is definitely recommended. There are a wide
variety of jewellers and craft shops with the Sunset Boullevarde
in Grand Bay providing a rich choice of clothing shops offering
very good quality designer style clothes.

: The
248 air conditioned rooms are situated on two levels, ensuring privacy
and stunning views. Rooms are either sea or garden facing and each
has a private terrace or balcony. All of the rooms are equipped
with en-suite bathrooms, individually controlled airconditioning,
minibar, individual safes, television (with video channel and radio)
and international direct dialling telephone. |
