LOCATION :
Built in the style of a fisherman's village, La Pirogue is much
influenced by the shapes of the traditional local fishing craft
- the pirogue. The main building looks like a billowing white
sail, while the individually thatched bungalows also feature the
distinctive angular shapes of the boat.
A comfortable superior first class hotel, La Pirogue adjoins Sugar
Beach Resort on the longest white sand beach on the island. There
is a vibrant, lively atmosphere at this resort, coupled with fine
cuisine and an excellent array of sporting facilities.
Inspired by the famous Mauritian fishing boats from which it takes
its name, this hotels' unique architectural style is enhanced
by the added warmth of wood and thatch. La Pirogue, recently renovated,
fringed by a superb white sandy beach graced by the most glorious
sunsets, remains true to its traditional values of authentic island
hospitality, romance and tranquillity. The structure of the main
building is inspired by a white sail floating in the wind.
The chalets all open privately onto a magnificent palm grove,
as well as on the sea. With their rustic charm of volcanic rock,
wood and thatch and their soothing shades of coral and vanilla,
they are perfectly complementing their idyllic natural surroundings.
The hotel boasts an immense pool of more than 1000 square metres
that merges into the Indian Ocean. A harmonious combination of
cosy coves and open play areas, with islets this "pool of pools"
represents the centre of the hotel.
Grouped around it are various bars and restaurants, such as the
Paul and Virginie Restaurant which offers snacks and island cuisine
at lunchtime and traditional five o'clock tea with pastries and
pancakes. Its dinner is more sophisticated with fine seafood and
remarkable wines from South Africa and the new world. The Main
Restaurant, completely redesigned and even more tropical and spacious,
is situated on the terrace. It offers an international breakfast
buffet and a World Cuisine dinner show, presented at several themed
live-cooking stations with food prepared fresh in front of the
guests. A romantic corner by the pond has been designed for those
who like more quiet meals.
The Beach Bar and Pool Deck, near the nautical club in a relaxed
atmosphere, you may enjoy a spectacular view while sipping a healthy
refreshment, a milkshake or an espresso. The bar also offers a
variety of light snacks which are served around the pool.
Citronellas Café, located between La Pirogue and its adjoining
sister hotel the Sugar Beach Resort, offers a truly Mediterranean
experience in gastronomy. Taste the highlights of traditional
Italian cuisine in its warm, welcoming dining room or enjoy a
light, tasty snack in the shade of its teak terrace.
Night entertainment is offered frequently. Pick your choice of
dancing to the live band, attending a world class theme show or
enjoying a tropical cocktail, a beer or a liqueur in the Blue
Bar or on the Pool Deck.
Children and teenagers find a range of fun activities at the Kids
Club or Teen Club, where they may enjoy their specific holiday

which is free of charge.
